Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone - ESSENTIAL

Tamara Ireland Stone Time Between Us, 384 pgs. Hyperion Books, October 9, 2012. $17.99. (Violence: PG, Language: PG, Sexuality: PG-13)

Anna and Bennett were never supposed to fall in love. She lives in 1995 Illinois. He lives in 2012 San Francisco. But Bennett possesses the ability to travel in place and time by simply closing his eyes and making a wish. When he shows up at Anna's high school on a mysterious errand, the attraction between them is too strong to ignore. But he's never stayed in one place or time so long, and their relationship is doomed to failure unless they can figure out how to take control of the time between them.

Stone reveals interesting surprises throughout the story, keeping the pace going and the pages turning. Her characters feel authentic, and the obstacles between Anna and Bennett are so strong and urgent that at times they seem insurmountable. Although Stone's explorations of time, space, and fate are intriguing and open up a lot of questions, the story is ultimately about the importance of going after your dreams and not changing who you are or what you do with your entire life because of a relationship that may not last - an important reminder for many teens.
